What to do so bloodsuckers don't spoil picnic season?
Picnics are one of the most enjoyable summer pleasures, aren't they? Still, this pleasure is very often spoiled by bloodsuckers. Summer is the most favourable time for bloodsuckers, since hot and humid weather speeds up their development cycle. So when getting ready to go out into nature, you should take care not only of a basket of food but also of protection against bloodsuckers. How do you prepare properly so as not to become their target?
Nuisances in nature. Lithuania has many species of mosquito that thoroughly disrupt our rest in nature. What's more, mosquitoes aren't the only bloodsuckers that give no peace. Other pests that spoil summer leisure are midges and horseflies. Almost everyone has probably encountered tiny midges at dusk, near damp areas. These are very small, almost imperceptible insects flying around your head. The consequences of a midge bite are no less than those of larger bloodsuckers: itching, swelling and redness. And horseflies are most active on hot, sunny days, especially before rain. At the site of the bite you feel a burning sensation, pain and redness.
How to protect yourself? Mosquitoes are drawn to the smell of sweat, so in the warm season use anti-perspiration products. Just avoid sweet scents, as they also attract mosquitoes. One effective means of protection against bloodsuckers is aromatherapy lamps. It's also important to have long-sleeved clothing, and to apply or spray insect-repellent substances (repellents) on exposed areas. That said, when choosing these products, read the manufacturer's leaflet carefully, note whether the product can be used on bare skin, and follow the recommendations. If a mosquito bites you, disinfect the site of the bite and try not to scratch so as not to damage the skin. You can ease the itching and swelling by holding a cold-water compress. So that leisure in nature brings only bright emotions, use these simple tips and an encounter with bloodsuckers won't cause any trouble.
