Every woman should visit a gynaecologist regularly. Only a timely visit makes it possible to diagnose a disease quickly and choose the right treatment methods. Preventive check-ups are therefore very important, and they help you avoid diseases such as cervical cancer. A woman is advised to see a doctor without delay if the following symptoms appear: irregular or painful periods, increased discharge, discomfort or pain in the abdominal area, or painful intercourse. The doctors at AND klinika in Vilnius diagnose and treat gynaecological diseases, advise on contraception and infertility, diagnose early pregnancy, advise on and care for women during pregnancy, and consult girls and adolescents.

– Removal of warts and condylomas in intimate areas by electrocoagulation
One of the intimate-area problems we may avoid talking about, yet still encounter, is condylomas and warts. Their cause, known as the human papillomavirus, has several types, and some of them can cause precancerous conditions, cervical changes and cancer itself; therefore women who themselves – or whose partners – have had genital warts must undergo cytological tests regularly.
Although most warts cause no symptoms and are only felt, chronic infection eventually leads to discomfort, itching and burning in the intimate area.
You can recognise warts by the following signs:
-
They are flat growths or warts, of various sizes, white-pink or skin-coloured;
-
They appear anywhere on the genitals or around the anus;
-
They do not necessarily appear immediately after infection – it may take 2–3 months or even years for them to become apparent;
-
They are hard to notice at the vaginal vestibule, especially if they are flat in shape;
-
Some warts have a papillary appearance and grow in clusters, sometimes quite large, so they are easy to notice.
If you have noticed changes in the genital area, or condylomas or warts have appeared and cause you discomfort, we suggest visiting AND klinika and discussing with your gynaecologist the possibility of removing them by electrocoagulation. This is a simple procedure in which the skin growth is grasped with tweezers and removed with an electric scalpel, without causing bleeding. Within 5–10 days the area from which the wart or papilloma was removed heals completely and regains an even skin colour.
