Correct posture — the mark of an upright person
Sedentary work, leisure at the computer – so a great many people experience problems with correct posture. Correct posture is when a person, without tensing the muscles, is able to hold the torso and head straight. Poor posture not only looks unaesthetic and unattractive, but also causes more serious problems and pains, such as joint disease, disorders of the internal organs, muscle spasms, a weakening of the immune system and breathing disorders. So it's very important to spot posture disorders in time. This is especially worth noticing in children's posture – children move more and are more flexible, so sometimes these disorders can disappear on their own without any treatment. So you must watch that the habit of poor posture doesn't become an everyday thing. Posture can be influenced by both internal (birth trauma, heredity, physical activity, general state of health) and external (the force of gravity, environment) factors. How do you know your posture is correct? You can decide by these aspects:
- A straight back;
- no flat feet;
- equal leg length;
- a symmetrical chest;
- head and body in one vertical line.
But there's no need to be alarmed – you can prevent this problem at home too; the main things are correct posture and regular exercise.
- If you have to stand for a long time, don't forget to shift your body weight from one leg to the other at certain intervals. Always keep your spine and head straight;
- Sit on a firm, straight chair and don't cross your legs;
- Don't sleep on a soft, shapeless, sagging mattress.
